BRISTOL, Tenn. In the final results from Bristol Dragway Doug Horne regained the Top Fuel points lead in the NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series and Anthony Bertozzi won in Top Dragster while just missing the double-up in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

Horne, Aberdeen, Md., has been trading the points lead with Tommy Grimes all season and beat Grimes in the final of Top Fuel Harley this weekend to take a 43-point lead going into the final event of their ten race season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nov. Horne went 6.277 seconds at 228.15 mph to Grimes, Winston Salem, N.C., who slowed to an 8.231 at 107.55.

Bertozzi advanced to the final round in two classes giving him the opportunity to score the rare double-up. He first met up with James Noel, Westminster, S.C., in the division's Hickory Enclosed Trailers Top Dragster class. Bertozzi won a close one (about three feet) running 7.394 at 176.97 to Noel's 7.421, 175.02. The Ashland, Va., racer then faced off with Gary Coccaro in Super Stock but left early with a red-light foul start by just .002 seconds giving Coccaro, Panama City, Fla., the win in his '05 Sunfire clocking in at 9.694 seconds.

Piedmont, Ala., resident David Rampy added another win to his collection knocking out Van Puckett, Monroe, Ga., in Comp Eliminator. Rampy went 7.397, 162.68 in his '32 roadster to Puckett's 8.467, 159.51.

Craig Cain, Kodak, Tenn., won for the home state in the Davis Golf Cart Top Sportsman Series covering the quarter mile in 7.310, 187.34 in his '63 Corvette against Casey Spradlin, Ranburne, Ala., and Larry Hill won in Stock Eliminator. Hill, Hickory, Ky., drove his '70 Barracuda past Raymond Skipper, Richmond, Va., in 10.537 seconds at 122.97 mph.

Rounding out the Lucas Oil winners were Raymond Miller, Spring Hill, Fla., over James Stahl, Boone, N.C., in Super Comp; Steve Theodor, Columbus, Ohio, beat Steve Hoyt, Ft. Wayne, Ind., in Super Gas; and Robbie Shaw, Bowden, Ga., held off Donald Webb, Four Oaks, N.C., on a double breakout in Super Street. Shaw went 10.888 to Webb's 10.887.

Charley Douglas and Bruce Croneberger III both had shots at the double win in the Harley-Davidson Series as they faced off with each other in both the Street Pro and the Hot Street classes. Charley took the win in Street Pro on his '92 Harley but Croneberger took the win in Hot Street on his '92 Sportster.

Other winners in the Harley-Davidson series were Johnny Vickers, Millers Creek, N.C., who road his '10 Harley to the win in Pro Dragster Harley defeating Richard Vreeland; Frank Capone beat Jay Wagner in Pro Gas; and Dead Bear Mashini won in Draggin Bagger.

Southeast Division racers head to zMAX Dragway to meet up with the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series next weekend, Sept. 13-15 before heading to Silver Dollar Raceway for their season finale, Oct. 11-13.

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Racing kicked off today for the NHRA Southeast division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by Frito Lay with more than 300 racers expected to battle the quarter mile this weekend at Bristol Dragway including the NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series featuring the Top Fuel Harley class.  

Racers in Comp Eliminator, Hickory Enclosed Trailer Top Dragster and Davis Gold Cart Top Sportsman took to the track today for three round of qualifying as all three classes set their fields for Saturday's eliminations.  Top Fuel Haley also set their field, as racers in the remaining Lucas Oil and Harley-Davison series classes will have a final qualifying run on Saturday morning before starting their eliminations.

Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday with racing set to begin at 9 a.m.  Round 1 for Comp, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster is set for 11 a.m. and Top Fuel Harley takes to the track at noon.  Tickets are $20 for adults, children 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.  Bristol Dragway is located off Interstate 81.  From the North take Hwy 11E.  From the South, take Tennessee exit 69 and go south on Hey 394 to the track.  For more information call the track, 423-Bristol or visit www.bristoldragway.com

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Bristol Dragway will host the NHRA Southeast division's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by Frito Lay, Sept. 6-7. The event is one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division's Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman Series and Hickory Enclosed Trailer Sales Top Dragster Series will also be in competition along with the NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series.

Qualifying and time trials start Friday at 9 a.m. and continue Saturday at 9 a.m. Comp Eliminator, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman will have three qualifying sessions on Friday, at 11 a.m. 2 and 5 p.m., and begin eliminations on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Harley-Davidson Series racers that include Top Fuel Harley will make qualifying passes at noon, 3 and 6 p.m. on Friday, and a final qualifying pass on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Top Fuel Harley will run round 1 of eliminations at noon on Saturday.

Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Bristol Dragway are $20 Friday and $20 Saturday. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2013 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $119,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2014 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2014 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning division and regional teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2014 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

NHRA HARLEY-DAVIDSON DRAG RACING SERIES: The NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series is contested at 10 events held in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series with a minimum of one event in each of the seven NHRA divisions. Classes of competition include Top Fuel, Pro Dragster, Pro Gas, Draggin' Bagger, Street Pro, and Hot Street.

In addition to the individual event championships, Top Fuel riders will compete for a series championship. The best seven of 10 races will count for points toward the year-end championship. The year-end champion in Top Fuel will receive $7,500; second place, $3,000; and third place, $1,000. The combined event purse and year-end awards for the program will total more than $175,000.

 Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman Series: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Top Sportsman class are vying for division championships and a share in the year-end purse.
