WEST LEBANON, N.Y. (Sunday, July 5, 2009) - Eliminations are complete from the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event held at Lebanon Valley Dragway. Leading the pack of winners was Comp Eliminator ace Dan Fletcher of Churchville, N.Y. This event wraps of the fourth of seven in Northeast division competition.
Fletcher, the defending National Champion in Comp, posted a 8.463 second, 129.57 mph pass to knock out Al Ackerman of Saddle Brook, N.J., in the final. This victory marks his fifth divisional win of the season.
Joe Santangelo from Marlborough, Conn., was victorious in Super Stock, and Stock Eliminator honors went to Joe DeMarzo of Mahopac, N.Y. Chuck Krepela, West Springfield, Mass., captured the top spot in Super Comp; Jason Kenny, Kingston, Ont., and his '03 Corvette won the Super Gas class, and Martin Ganjoin of Brick, N.J., went to the Super Street winner's circle. Top Sportsman honors went to Joe Dunne, Wolcott, Conn., and Justin Mason, Northboro, Mass., won in Top Dragster.
Darren Nicholson of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Frank Manzo, Morganville, N.J., also picked up Lebanon victories which were completed Saturday night. Nicholson, who made his third divisional appearance, picked up his first win of the season. Top Alcohol Funny Car legend Frank Manzo once again staked his claim by posting back to back wins and Lebanon. His final pass of 5.647 seconds at 254.76 mph was more than enough to pick up his third divisional win of the year and cement his place at the top of the Northeast.
Northeast division racers head to Cecil County Dragway Aug. 28-30.

WEST LEBANON, N.Y. – Alcohol eliminations are complete at Lebanon Valley Dragway with the prestigious Wally trophies going to Top Alcohol Dragster pilot Darren Nicholson from Mission Viejo, Calif., and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Frank Manzo, of Morganville, N.J. Parings are also set for the remaining classes of Sunday's eliminations at the fourth NHRA Northeast Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event.
Nicholson, who made his third divisional appearance, picked up his first win of the season. He defeated the divisional points leader to reach the finals in which he posted a 5.600 second, 256.45 mph pass to defeat Rich McPhillips of Phoenixville, Pa., to pick up the hardware.
Top Alcohol Funny Car legend Frank Manzo once again staked his claim by posting back to back wins and Lebanon. His final pass of 5.647 seconds at 254.76 mph was more than enough to pick up his third divisional win of the year and cement his place at the top of the Northeast.
Top qualifiers in other categories going into Sunday include Charlie Greco, Paoli, Pa., in Comp Eliminator; Jacques Blais, Tolland CT, in Super Stock; and Jim Boudreau of Tewksbury, Mass., took the pole in Stock. Top Sportsman went to Joe Dunne of Wolcott, Conn., and Frank Zeffiro from Winchester Center, Conn., in Top Dragster.
Racing continues Sunday at Lebanon Valley Dragway with gates opening at 8 a.m. and eliminations beginning at 9:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 each on Sunday. WEST LEBANON, N.Y. – Qualifying and time trials are underway at Lebanon Valley Dragway. Top Alcohol Dragster pilot John Finke of Selkirk, N.Y., and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Frank Manzo, Morganville, N.J., took the No. 1 qualifying positions in their classes. This weekend's event, which runs through Sunday, is the fourth of seven NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events scheduled for the Northeast division.
Finke owned the track today, by running a 5.394 second, 267.37 mph pass to take the top spot of the field. The current divisional points leader was victorious at the Lebanon event in 2008. In Top Alcohol Funny Car, Manzo posted a 5.645 second, 255.68 mph run to take the pole. He comfortably holds onto the lead in divisional points with two victories, as well as a win at last year's event.
Comp Eliminator is lead by Charlie Greco, Paoli, Pa.; Mark LaBrecque from W. Springfield, Mass., took the top spot in Super Stock; and John Shaul of Fultonham, N.Y., drove to the top of the list in Stock Eliminator. Joe Dunne from Wolcott, Conn., outran the field in Top Sportsman and Frank Zeffiro, Winchester Center, Conn., lead Top Dragster with a pass of 6.316 seconds at 224.32 mph.
Racing continues Saturday and Sunday at Lebanon Valley Dragway. Gates open Saturday at 7:30 a.m. Final qualifying and time trials begin at 8 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will run all three rounds of eliminations at 11:30 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m. Gates open at 8 on Sunday with eliminations beginning at 9:30 a.m.

WEST LEBANON, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley Dragway will host the NHRA Northeast division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, July 3-5. The race is the fourth of seven in the region and will feature drivers in eight categories, including 250 mph Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car, vying for points leading to divisional and national championships.
The division's Top Sportsman and Top Dragster classes will run in conjunction with the event as well.
Gates at Lebanon Valley Dragway open at 8 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials start at 10 a.m. Friday and continue Saturday at 8 a.m. Racers in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will have two qualifying runs on Friday, at 5 and 8 p.m. They will run all three rounds of eliminations on Saturday, at 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
On Friday night there will be a fireworks show after racing. Contact the track for details.
Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Lebanon Valley Dragway are $15 Friday, $15 Saturday and $15 Sunday. Children 6 to 12 years old are $5 each day and kids 5 and under are admitted free.

The event is the fourth of seven in Northeast Division competition. The division's Top Sportsman and Top Dragster classes will run in conjunction with the event as well.

SCHEDULE: Qualifying and time trials schedule for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series:
FRIDAY, July 3 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Qualifying and time trials begin at 10 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualifying sessions are scheduled at 5 and 8 p.m. A fireworks show will follow racing action.
SATURDAY, July 4 -- Gates open at 7:30 a.m. Final qualifying and time trials begin at 8 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will run all three rounds of eliminations at 11:30 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m.
SUNDAY, July 5 -- Gates open at 8 a.m. Eliminations for all other classes begin at 9:30 a.m.

PURSE: The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competitors will vie for cash and contingency awards of $168,025, as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND -- a $561,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2009 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional champions and national champions. Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.
JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $119,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2010 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2010 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.
The winning division's team will share $20,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Winners in Top Sportsman and Top Dragster will each earn $5,000. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.
Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2010 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.
