ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. – The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series tackled the quarter mile strip at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park for the 45th Annual Lucas Oil Points Meet this weekend with hundreds of racers going head to head in today's elimination rounds.  Winners were crowned in Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, and the rest of the classes that make up the nationwide series.

NHRA Northeast division racers will head to Reading, Pa., for the Uni-Select Auto Parts NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway Sept. 29 – Oct. 2.  Next up for Raceway Park is their 35th Annual TBG U.S. Diesel Trucking Nationals.

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. – Competitors made their final qualifying runs and time trials today for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series 45th Annual Points Meet at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park and will continue with eliminations on Sunday morning.  Racing classes ranging from five-second, 260 mph alcohol dragsters and funny cars to super gas roadsters and wheel standing super stocks will be battling it out on the quarter mile.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Sunday with racing action set to begin at 10 a.m.  Round 1 for Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car is scheduled for noon.  Raceway Park is located at 230 Pension Road in Englishtown.  Take Exit 9 off the New Jersey Turnpike to Route 18.  Go south to Englishtown, exit Route 527, turn left on Pension Road. ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - NHRA Northeast division racers converged on Old Bridge Township Raceway Park today for the 45th Annual NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Points Meet. The event is the final of six in the division where competitors will earn points toward both national and divisional championships.

Racers in eight different classes, made qualifying and time trial runs today with final qualifying scheduled for Saturday including the series' premier Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars followed by final eliminations on Sunday.  Saturday's racing begins at 10 a.m. with Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car making qualifying runs at 3 and 7 p.m. which will set their fields for Sunday.   Comp Eliminator will run all of their elimination rounds on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.  All remaining classes will run round 1 on Saturday afternoon.

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. - Old Bridge Township Raceway Park will host The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event on Sept. 9-11, 2011, one of six in the NHRA Northeast division.  At the event drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000.

Gates at Raceway Park open at 8 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Qualifying and time trials start at 10 a.m. Friday and continue Saturday at 10 a.m. Comp Eliminator will qualify twice on Friday at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.   Saturday will see all rounds of eliminations for Comp Eliminator starting at 11 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will have two qualifying runs on Saturday at 3 and 7 p.m. and run eliminations on Sunday, beginning at noon. Eliminations for other classes start Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. and continue Sunday at 10 a.m.

Friday's action will also include the conclusion of elimination rounds for the postponed Lucas Oil event from Cecil County Dragway last month.  Eliminations will resume after the second time trial/qualifying session.

Tickets at Raceway Park for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event are $15 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday.  Children 6 to 11 years old are $5 each day and children 5 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
-- a $561,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2011 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional champions and national champions.  Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.  The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $119,000 purse from Jegs High Performance.  The 2012 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.  The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2012 Jegs Allstars during the O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals in 2012.  Points are based on in-division races only. 

The winning division's team will share $20,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions.  Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece.  Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants.  Any 2012 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.
