Saturday

ATCO, N.J. – Frank Manzo extended his Top Alcohol Funny Car points lead in the NHRA Northeast Division picking up his third divisional win of the year this past weekend at Atco Raceway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by PCRichard.com and Franklin Trailers. The Morganville, N.J. racer qualifier No. 1 and dominated the field advancing through eliminations and beating Eric Lourie, Terryville, Conn., in the final with a lap of 5.620 seconds at 259.21 mph. The win also gave Manzo the National points lead over Tony Bartone who has led the funny car points most of the season.

In Top Alcohol Dragster it was Mike Kosky breaking into the winner's circle for the first time in 2011.  Kosky, Cuddy, Pa., defeated John Finke, Selkirk, N.Y., and Rich McPhillips, Audubon, Pa., in rounds 1 and 2 before facing Karen Stalba, Hammonton, N.J., in the final. Kosky's 5.467 second lap at 259.36 mph was too much for Stalba's 5.874, 232.15.

Four other New Jersey racers joined Manzo with victories including Stalba's husband Tom, who beat Charlie Yannette, Alpine, N.J., in his '63 Corvette running 9.917, 149.80 in Super Gas. Richard Leone, Manalapan, N.J., defeated fellow New Jersey, resident Chris DePascale of Parlin, with a near perfect 8.908 second run on the 8.90 dial for the Super Comp win while Jay Neville, Franklinville, N.J., won in Super Street and his '79 Camaro over Edward Brooks, Deer Park, N.Y.  Jeff Tripp, Jackson, N.J., rounded out the home state winners in taking the Super Stock trophy from James Antonette, New Hyde Park, N.Y.

The Comp Eliminator title went to Kyle Cultrera, Eliot, Maine, driving his '32 roadster against Sal Biondo, Maspeth, N.Y., and Billy Pires, Dighton, Mass., took the Stock Eliminator honors, ousting David Barton, Robesonia, Pa.

ATCO, N.J. – NHRA Northeast division racers are at Atco Raceway to kick off the weekend's action for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by PCRichard.com and Franklin Trailers.  The event is the fourth of six Northeast division events in the 2011 season where competitors will earn points toward both national and divisional championships.

Racers made initial qualifying and time trial runs today on the quarter-mile with racers in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car highlighting the day's action along with nearly 500 racers in eight different classes.  The alcohol dragsters and funny cars made two qualifying passes which will set their 8-car fields for Saturday's eliminations.

Saturday's gates open at 7 a.m.  Comp Eliminator drivers will make their final qualifying run at noon followed by eliminations for Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car beginning at 2 p.m. with round 1.  Round 2 is scheduled for 4 p.m. and the final round at 6 p.m.  Stock and Super Stock, along with Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street will also run round 1 of eliminations on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday's schedule gets under way at 9:30 a.m. with the eliminations and final rounds.  Tickets are $20 on Saturday and Sunday, children 7-11 are just $1 each day, and children 6 and under are free with paid adult.  For more information please call Atco Raceway, (856) 768-2167 or visit www.atcoraceway.com

ATCO, N.J. – The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by PCRichard.com and Franklin Trailers at Atco Raceway, August 5-7, is one of six events in the NHRA Northeast division.  Drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000.  

Gates at Atco open at 7 a.m. everyday.  Qualifying and time trials begin Friday and Saturday at 9:30 a.m.  Comp Eliminator will have qualifing runs on Friday, at 1 and 4 p.m., and once on Saturday at noon.  Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will have two qualifying sessions, at 3 and 6 p.m. Friday.  Comp Eliminator will run one round of eliminations on Saturday at 3 p.m.  The Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car categories will run all three rounds of eliminations on Saturday, starting at 2 p.m.  Eliminations will continue Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for all other classes.

Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Atco Raceway are $20 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Children 7 to 11 years old are $1 each day and Children 6 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
-- a $561,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2011 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional champions and national champions.  Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.  The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $119,000 purse from Jegs High Performance.  The 2012 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.  The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2012 Jegs Allstars during the O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals in July, 2012.  Points are based on in-division races only. 

The winning division's team will share $20,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions.  Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece.  Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants.  Any 2012 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.
