Sunday 

REYNOLDS, Ga.–  Al Ackerman raced to the win in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Silver Dollar Raceway over the weekend.  With just a handful of events left to finish the season, the Lucas Oil National and Divisional Championship races have heated up.

In the final round of Comp Eliminator it was Ackerman, Saddle Brook N.J., who is coming off a win at the national event in Reading, Pa., versus Van Puckett, Monroe, Ga., who sits atop the Southeast division point standings were even at the start, but Ackerman had the power to finish stronger for the win with a pass of 7.910 seconds at 160.77 miles per hour in his dragster.  Puckett ran a pass of 8.512 seconds at 158.41 miles per hour for a runner-up finish. Ackerman is in fourth place for the Northeast division point standings. 

Gary Ewing, Bel Air, Md., was better at the tree and ran a winning lap of 9.993 seconds at 126.33 mph in the Super Stock class to defeat Pat Clifford while Brad Ford, Gardendale, Ala., defeated Jeff Adkinson who was perfect at the light but Ford ran a .029 package to take the Stock eliminator win.  In Super Comp, both drivers broke out but Nick Folk took the win by running closer to his index. Folk from Durand, Ill., defeated Gene Quinn by running an 8.887 second at 159.63 mph winning pass.

It was a close final round in Super Gas and Super Street.  The title for Super Gas went to Steven Furr, out of Harrisburg, N.C., and his '68 Camaro posting a lap of 9.925 seconds at 154.99 mph to defeat Ray Connolly of Elyria, Ohio, who went 9.950 seconds at 149.58 mph in his '63 Corvette.  Furr now has three divisional Wally's this year. This win keeps Furr in the hunt for the Southeast division title against John Taylor. In Super Street Lamar Stevenson earned the win in his '69 Camaro at 10.886 seconds at 119.04 miles per hour taking out Kenny Dickerson, Brunswick, Ga., in his '73 Vega with a runner up lap of 10.882 seconds at 123.96 miles per hour.

In other racing, Alan O'Brien, Ronceverte, W.V., took out Wayne Brooks, Monroe, Ga., in Hickory Enclosed Trailers Top Dragster; and Scott Underwood, Madison, Ala., in his '02 Camaro defeated Mike Weaver, Griffin, Ga., in Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman

A highlight of the weekend was the NHRA Summit Junior Drag Racing League running with Wesley Syme, Atlanta, Ga., taking home the win for the 13-17 year old class; Bruce Thaxton, Butler, Ga., defeated Elizabeth Haralson of Hampton, Ga.in the 10-12 year old class; and it was Jace Bynum from Camilla, Ga., defeating Carson Emmett of Cedar Bluff, Ala.

REYNOLDS, Ga. – Day two is in the books as qualifying was finalized and the fields are set for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Silver Dollar Raceway.  Adding to today's action was the Summit Jr. Drag Racing League time trials which set up their elimination rounds on Sunday beginning at noon.

REYNOLDS, Ga. - The NHRA Southeast Division is at Silver Dollar Raceway for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series this weekend featuring 200 mph Top Dragster and Top Sportsman cars. Special event this weekend is the Summit Jr. Drag Racing League running time trials on Saturday and final rounds on Sunday.

This weekend's event is the sixth in the division and one of 45 that take place throughout the year from coast to coast with nearly 400 of the best racers from the region looking for valuable points leading toward national and divisional championships. 

Qualifying runs today included the division's Davis Golf Cart Top Sportsman, Hickory Enclosed Trailers Top Dragsters and Comp Eliminator racers.  These runs set up Saturday's continued qualifying runs for all classes. 

Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday with racing scheduled to start at 9 a.m. with rounds three and four of qualifying in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series including Top Dragster and Top Sportsman at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

REYNOLDS, Ga. - Silver Dollar Raceway host the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Southeast Division on October 13-16. The event is one of 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division's Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman Series and Hickory Enclosed Trailer Sales Top Dragster Series will also be in competition.

Gates at Silver Dollar Raceway open at 8 a.m. each day. Hickory Enclosed Top Dragster & Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman qualifies Friday at 2 pm. Top Dragster and Top Sportsman will make two additional qualifying hits at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

One of the highlight's to the weekend is the addition of the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League that allows kids between the ages of 5 and 17 to experience the thrill of motorsports competition in a controlled environment at tracks in each of NHRA's seven geographic divisions. The NHRA Summit Racing JDRL creates family involvement in drag racing at an affordable level. Many of the league's former participants have gone on to compete in other NHRA classes. JDRL participants will make time trial passes on Saturday at 11 am, 12:45, and 3:30 pm. The final rounds will be run on Sunday at noon, 1:30, and 2:30 pm.

Tickets for Silver Dollar Raceway are $15 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Active Duty Military personnel have free admission every day. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2014 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from JEGS High Performance. The 2016 JEGS Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2016 JEGS Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning division and regional teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, JEGS High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to JEGS Allstars participants. Any 2016 JEGS Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.
