Sunday 

GILLIAM, La. – The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series crowned champions for the NHRA, South Central Divisional, event at Thunder Road Raceway Park. 

In Comp Eliminator, Keith Hall, Ravenna, Texas, took home his eighth win, in eleven final rounds as he defeated Brian Browell, Lafayette, Ind. who fouled with a red light. Hall posted a winning run of 8.452 seconds at 142.43 mph.

David Latino, Donaldsonville, La., worked his way through the field in his'00 Corvette and captured his fourth divisional win running a 10.574 second at 123.87 mph lap in his final round victory in Stock Eliminator over Greg Stanfield, Bossier City, La.

Texas racer Christopher Dodd of Double Oak took home the win in Super Comp. This was Dodd's second Divisional final round appearance and win. Dodd posted a winning run of 8.919 seconds at 169.17 mph while Gina Mundt, Longview, Texas, went 8.914 seconds at 155.83 mph.

In the division's Sunset Racecraft Top Sportsman Series it was Vince Hoda, Doiberville, Miss., who picked up his second divisional Wally in Top Sportsman. Hoda took the win over Marlon Goates, Troy, Texas. Hoda posted a winning pass of 6.827 seconds at 198.47 mph. Goates had a runner-up finish of 7.194 seconds at 190.89 mph.

In the division's KPE Keeter Performance Engine Top Dragster series it was Aaron Stanfield, Bossier City, La., who picked up his first-ever Divisional Wally in Top Dragster. He will add these to the pair of Wally's he has from Super Stock. Stanfield defeated J.R. Baxter, Waxahachie, Texas, who had a great light, then broke.

In the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, Lane Odom's picked up the Sportsman Motorcycle trophy. Odom from Choudrant, La., ran an 8.505 second lap, at 148.18 mph on his '95 Suzuki as Robert Sanders, Cypress, Texas, ran a pass of 8.915 seconds at 143.34 mph.

Other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were Chris Chaney, Claremore, Okla., earning his third Super Stock divisional Wally; Jackson Collier, West Monroe, La., got the easy win in Super Gas; and Chris Haralson's, Azle, Texas, captured his first Wally, in his first-ever final round in Super street.

South Central Division racers head to Thunder Valley Raceway Park for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, October 7-9.

GILLIAM, La. – Day two is in the books and the fields are set at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Thunder Road Raceway Park. Qualifying was finalized in the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock and the remaining classes in competition. 

Gates open on Sunday at 8 a.m. with racers battling it out in head to head competition for a chance at taking home the trophy and their share of cash and contingency awards.  Tickets are $20 for adults and children 13-17 are $10 and kids 12 and under are free. GILLIAM, La. – NHRA South Central division racers converged on Thunder Road Raceway Park for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event.  The event is the fifth of six events that run through October where competitors will earn points toward both national and divisional championships.

Racers in nine different classes along with the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson made qualifying and time trial runs today with eliminations in all classes scheduled for Sunday.  The division's Sunset Performance Top Sportsman Series, KPE Top Dragster series are also in action this weekend with final qualifying passes continuing Saturday before beginning eliminations on Sunday.

Gates open Saturday at 8 a.m. with racing scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.  Tickets are $20 Saturday and Sunday for adults, children 13-17 are $10 and kids 12 and under are free.  For more information please call the track, (318) 299-RACE, or visit www.racetrrp.com.

The event is one of 45 scheduled across the country where drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division's Sunset Performance Top Sportsman Series, KPE Top Dragster Series and NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson will also be run in conjunction with the event.

Gates at Thunder Road Raceway Park open at 8 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials are Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m. Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator qualify at 1:30 and 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Eliminations continue Sunday at 9 a.m. with round one for Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator at 10:30 a.m.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2016 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2017 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2017 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning division and regional teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2017 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

SUNSET PERFORMANCE TOP SPORTSMAN SERIES: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Top Sportsman class are vying for division championships. The top points finisher will earn a year-end bonus of $1,500, the runner-up will get $1000 and the third place finisher will receive $500. Top Sportsman racers may run the six South Central Division Lucas Oil events as well as three Lucas Oil Series races in the other NHRA divisions.

KPE TOP DRAGSTER SERIES: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Top Dragster class are vying for division championships. The top points finisher will earn a year-end bonus of $1,500, the runner-up will get $1000 and the third place finisher will receive $500.

MOSER SPORTSMAN SHOOTOUT: Drivers who compete in seven NHRA sportsman classes will be eligible to participate in the Moser Sportsman Shootout. Moser Engineering Sportsman Shootout qualifying points will be earned by competitors in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman at each South Central Division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. The South Central Division Moser Sportsman Shootout will be held at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Texas Motorplex in Dallas, with a posted purse of $15,000, with the winner taking home up to $5,000.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY-DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA's Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $14,000 champions' purse posted by Harley-Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.
