EARLVILLE, Iowa. – The NHRA West Central division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series hit the quarter-mile at Tri-State Raceway this past weekend.  Winners were recognized for the West Central final event in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car, as well as Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Comp Eliminator, Stock, Super Comp and the rest of the classes that encompass the nationwide series.

After battling through  two tough rounds in Top Alcohol Dragster, Gord Gingles, Winnipeg, Manit.,  made the winning run of 5.345 seconds, 272.17 mph  in the final round.. Duane Shields, Boulder City, Nev., had a runner up pass of 5.749 seconds, 247.43 mph. Doug Gordon, Paso Robles, Calif., raced to victory in the Top Alcohol Funny Car final round; hitting 5.706 seconds, 259.36 mph . Bill Bernard, Littleton, Colo., had a runner up pass of 5.638 seconds, 260.21mph.

Todd Patterson, Augusta, Kan., successfully separated himself from Bruno Massel, Elmhurst, Ill., in the Comp Eliminator finale. Patterson hit a winning pass of 7.813, 168.45 on the strip defeating Massel, who ran 7.153, 156.95.

In the Jerry Haas Race Cars Top Sportsman class presented by Aeromotive, fans watched Rob Meservier, Thunder Bay, Ont., score the win over Jim White, Haysville, Kan. Meservier posted a winning run of 7.130, 185.15 to White's 6.578, 212.76. In the Fineline Graphics/Madcap Engines Top Dragster, Al Peavler, Olney, Ill., had an easy day at the office as John Lobner, DeSoto, Kan., fouled at the line. Peayler cruised to victory in 12.302, 60.35.

The other drivers visiting the winner's circle were Tom Armanino, San Mateo, in Super Stock; Bill Feist, Maple Grove, Minn., in Stock Eliminator;   Austin Sharpe, Omaha, Neb., in Super Comp; Trevor Larson, Starbuck, Minn., in Super Gas; and Amy Jo Luberda, Sauk Rapids, Minn., in Super Street.

In the Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley –Davidson final round, Patrick Roetto, paced to victory running, 9.420, 136.86 to defeat Curtis Spracklin, Omaha, Neb., 8.598, 147.23. The NHRA Summit Jr. Dragsters were racing as well. Home state racer, Aiva Moore, Marion, Iowa, edged out a victory against Jakob Flier, Valley Springs, S.D., 7.956, 81.34.

The specialty events winner's circle saw Mike Voss, Maplewood, Minn., in Voss Motorcycle Shootout; Larry Bernshausen, Manito, Ill., in Karl Performance Super Comp Shootout Presented By Karl Chevrolet; Duane Kohl, Lincoln, Neb., in Karl Performance Super Gas Shootout Presented By Karl Chevrolet; and Corey Bentley, Fremont, Neb., in Karl Performance Superstreet Shootout Presented By Karl Chevrolet.

EARLVILLE, Iowa – Fields were set today for all classes in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 5 Finals at Tri-State Raceway as racers will go into final eliminations on Sunday morning.

Gates open on Sunday at 7 a.m. with racing set to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will continuing throughout the day, culminating with the winner's circle celebration.

Spectator tickets are $20 for adults on Sunday; Children 12 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

EARLVILLE, Iowa – NHRA West Central division racers are back in action as they kicked off the NHRA Division 5 Finals and their last event of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.    The 270 mph Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car classes highlight the event making their initial qualifying run today, and will make a pair of qualifying passes on Saturday which will set the fields for Sunday's eliminations.

The division's Jerry Haas Race Cars Top Sportsman Series, Fineline Graphics/Madcap Top Dragster Series and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson will also run in conjunction with the event.  Today's action included two rounds of qualifying for racers in Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman. 

Qualifying and time trials continue Saturday at 9 a.m. Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Comp Eliminator qualify Saturday 11 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualify Saturday at noon and 4 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car first round of eliminations is Sunday at noon.

Gates open at 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Tri-State Raceway are $25 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Children 12 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2016 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2017 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2017 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning regional and division team will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2017 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.
