Sunday

EARLVILLE, Iowa.– At Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, Iowa, racers Gord Gingles, Winnipeg, Man., and Ray Drew, Hales Corners, Wis., took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively. This event concludes the six race Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series in the West Central Division.

Gingles faced off against defending event champion Randy Meyer, Spring Hill, Kansas, and posted a winning run of 5.358 seconds, 263.00 mph. Meyer slowed to a 6.156 second, 183.39 mph lap for his runner up finish. Meyer was slow off the light and had trouble moving down the track. Gingles made a clean start and drove away to take the win.

Drew got the Top Alcohol Funny Car win with a pass of 6.118 seconds at 239.31 mph. He faced off against Bill Bernard, Littleton, Colo., in the final, who left too early at the tree.

Todd Patterson, Augusta, Kan., was better at the line and was first to the stripe in Comp Eliminator posting a time of 7.863 seconds, 171.97 mph in his '10 Cobalt. Patterson defeated Mark Kirkman, Monmouth, Ill., who had a lap of 6.475 seconds at 186.85 mph in the money round.

It was a battle of the Cobalts in Super Stock as Tom Cain, Louisburg, Kan., in an '09 Cobalt took the win over Brina Splingaire, N. Riverside, Ill., in her '08 Cobalt by 0.0005 seconds, approximately 1 inch.

Trevor Larson, Starbuck, Minn., beat Cal Belden, Aberdeen, S.D., with a 8.84 second, 163.28 mph lap in the Super Comp final while Jerry Jones, Indianola, Iowa, drove his '81 Monte Carlo to the win taking out Wayne Christopher Milan, Ill., in Super Street.

Other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were Johnny Diekema, Blue Grass, Iowa, in Stock Eliminator; David Nelson, Palmyra, Mo., in Super Gas; and Aiva Moore, Marion, Iowa won in Junior Dragster. In the NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, Patrick Roetto, Wichita, Kan., defeated Cody Duffield, of Rockford, Iowa.

In the Jerry Haas Race Cars Top Sportsman Series, Jeff Southerland, Andover, Ill., took the win over Terry Pope, Blair, Neb., and scored a winning run of 7.732 seconds, 175.30 mph. Matt Kreft, Council Bluffs, Iowa, earned the win in the Fineline Graphics/Madcap Top Dragster Series with a lap of 7.078 seconds at 195.00 mph.

EARLVILLE, Iowa – Fields were set today for all classes in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 5 Finals at Tri-State Raceway as racers will go into final eliminations on Sunday morning.

Gates open on Sunday at 7 a.m. with racing set to begin at 8:00 a.m. and will continuing throughout the day, culminating with the winner's circle celebration.

Spectator tickets are $20 for adults on Sunday, Children 6 to 12 years old are $5 each day.  Children 5 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

Friday

EARLVILLE, Iowa – NHRA West Central division racers are back in action as they kicked off the NHRA Division 5 Finals and their last  event of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.   The 270 mph Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car classes highlight the event making their initial qualifying run today, followed by a pair on Saturday which will set their fields for Sunday's eliminations.

The division's Jerry Haas Race Cars Top Sportsman Series, Fineline Graphics/Madcap Top Dragster Series and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson will also run in conjunction with the event. 

Today's action included two rounds of qualifying for racers in Top Dragster, Comp Eliminator and Top Sportsman along with a single round for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car.

Qualifying and time trials continue Saturday at 8 a.m. Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Comp Eliminator qualify Saturday 11 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualify Saturday at noon and 4 p.m. The first round of eliminations will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and continue on Sunday at 9 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car first round of eliminations is Sunday at noon.

Gates open at 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Tri-State Raceway are $25 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Children 6 to 12 years old are $5 each day.  Children 5 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

EARLVILLE, Iowa – Tri-State Raceway will host the NHRA Division 5 Finals Sept. 11-13. The event is one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division's Jerry Haas Race Cars Top Sportsman Series, Fineline Graphics/Madcap Top Dragster Series and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson will also run in conjunction with the event.

Gates at Tri-State Raceway open at 7 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Qualifying and time trials start Friday at 9 a.m. and continue Saturday at 8 a.m. Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Comp Eliminator qualify Friday at 2 and 4 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualify at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at noon and 4 p.m. The first round of eliminations will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and continue on Sunday at 9 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car first round of eliminations is Sunday at noon.

Tickets for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Tri-State Raceway are $15 Friday, $25 Saturday and $20 Sunday. Children 6 to 12 years old are $5 each day.  Children 5 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

BONUS  PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2015 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2016 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2016 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning regional and division team will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2016 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

AEROMOTIVE LOW QUALIFIER BONUS: A $3,000 bonus fund paid to the low qualifiers in Comp Eliminator, Super Stock and Stock Eliminator at each of the division's six races. The best qualifying driver in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock will each get $200 per event, while the best qualifier in Stock Eliminator will get $100 per race.

JERRY HAAS RACE CARS TOP SPORTSMAN SERIES presented by Aeromotive: The Jerry Haas Race Cars Top Sportsman Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the West Central division's Top Sportsman class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $2,750 champions' purse posted by Jerry Haas Race Cars will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.

FINELINE GRAPHICS & MADCAP RACING ENGINES TOP DRAGSTER SERIES: The West Central Division Top Dragster Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the West Central division's Top Dragster class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $2,750 champions' purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY-DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA's Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $14,000 champions' purse posted by Harley-Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.
