Sunday

FONTANA, Calif. – In the final results from Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Justin Lamb raced to victory in both Comp Eliminator and Super Stock. Driving similar '10 Cobalts, the Henderson, Nev., racer marched through eliminations in both classes taking out Tony Mandella in the Comp Eliminator final and Don Keen in Super Stock.  Lamb ran down Mandella, Riverside, Calif., with an 8.028, 160.52 mph run to Mandella's 8.426, 156.43 in his '01 S-10.  The win in Super Stock came in 8.719 seconds at 148.67 mph to Keen's 10.515, 125.73 in his '65 Mustang.

Jesse Adams and Ed Olpin joined Lamb in the winner's circle with wins in Top Dragster and Top Sportsman respectively.  Adams, Yuba City, Calif., ousted Moe Trujillo, Happy Valley, Ore., with a 6.187 second, 225.37 mph pass to Trujillo's 6.798, 190.57.  The Pleasant Grove, Utah, racer Olpin went 7.279 at 188.52 mph in his '68 Camaro to upend Doug Bracey, Vallejo, Calif., and his '99 Monte Carlo clocking in at 7.548, 178.76

Justin Morgan, Greg Ventura and Bernie Polvadore took home the trophies in the super index categories.  Morgan, Concord, Calif., outran local racer Bobby Mirizio, of Rancho Cucamonga in the 8.90 Super Comp class.  Morgan went 8.918 to Mirizio's 8.923.  Ventrua, Garden Grove, Calif., went 9.889 seconds with his '66 Nova in beating Dave Meziere, Escondido, Calif., who left early with a red-light foul start and Polvadore, Sun City, Ariz., ran 10.895 in his '93 Grand Prix to Robert Johnson's 10.891 in the double break-out.

Rounding out the weekend winners were Larry Gillery, Hilmar, Calif., in Stock Eliminator and Bill Burkhart of Anaheim, Calif., in the Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley-Davidson class.   Gillery ran his '69 Dart to a lap of 11.045 seconds at 118.87 mph over Jim Meador, Yorba Linda, Calif., and his '67 Camaro at 10.760, 121.96.  Burkhart's '98 Suzuki GSXR covered the quarter-mile in 7.712, 168.45 to end Brain Jennings' day. Jennings, Martinez, Calif., went 9.683, 128.80 on his '81 Suzuki in his losing efforts.

Pacific Division racers are back here at Auto Club Dragway next weekend for the NHRA JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals, May 29-31.

FONTANA, Calif.  – Day two is in the books and eliminations have begun for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Auto Club Dragway.  Eliminations began for several classes that will continue on Sunday with Comp Eliminator, Top Dragster and all classes in competition.

FONTANA, Calif. - The NHRA Pacific Division is at Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series this weekend featuring 200-mph Top Dragster and Top Sportsman racers.

This weekend's event is one of seven in the division and one of 45 that take place throughout the year from coast to coast with nearly 400 of the best racers from the region looking for valuable points leading toward national and divisional championships. 

Racers made qualifying and time trial runs today that included the division's Top Sportsman and Top Dragsters classes who will return on Saturday with all classes for final qualifying.  The fields will be set Saturday morning and eliminations will begin Saturday Afternoon.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2015 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2015 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2015 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning regional and division teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2015 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY-DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA's Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $14,000 champions' purse posted by Harley-Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.

PACIFIC DIVISION TOP SPORTSMAN SERIES: The Pacific Division Top Sportsman Series, runs in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Pacific division's Top Sportsman class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $3,500 champions' purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.

PACIFIC DIVISION TOP DRAGSTER SERIES: The Pacific Top Dragster Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Pacific division's Top Dragster class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $3,500 champions' purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.
