Bateman, Hunter take Lucas Oil wins at Mission

Sunday

MISSION, B.C. In the final results from Mission Raceway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Garrett Bateman, Albany, Ore., and Greg Hunter, Sheridan, Wyo., took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.

Bateman, worked his way through the field and ran 5.673 seconds at 255.46 mph in his final round victory over Cameron Ferre, Huntington Beach, Calif., who clocked in at 7.738 seconds, 103.59 mph. Ferre had the starting line advantage until about 350 feet out when his chutes deployed and Bateman was able to drive around him to take the win. This was Bateman's second career victory and his second win this season. He received his first win this year at the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Woodburn Dragstrip.

Hunter faced off against Dave Germain, Toledo, Wash., and posted a winning run of 5.716 seconds, 255.60 mph in his '10 Monte Carlo. Germain drove to a 6.471 second, 163.10 mph lap for his runner up finish. Hunter was off the line first and was able to hang on to the lead and drive away from Germain to take his first Division 6 win.

In the Super Comp final, it was Jackson Gradin, Spokane, Wash., taking the win over Michael Dalrymple, Sunnyside, Wash. Gradin posted a winning run of 8.948 seconds, 157.86 mph over Dalrymple who posted a runner up finish of 8.973 seconds, 155.46 mph. Gradin and Dalrymple were identical on the tree but Gradin had the better run down the track and he picked up his first every Super Comp Wally.

The Harley-Davidson Racing Series presented by Harley-Davidson also appeared at this event and Tommy Grimes, Pfafftown, N.C. took home the win in Top Fuel Harley. Grimes, with his quickest pass of the day, posted a winning run of 6.346 seconds, 232.01 mph on his '14 Harley. Grimes faced off against Damian Cownden, Victoria, B.C., who posted a run of 7.817 seconds, 128.42 mph to take the runner-up finish.

Other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were Ralph Van Paepeghem, Garden Valley, Idaho, in Comp Eliminator; Sean Cour, Brush Prairie, Wash., in Super Stock; Clarence Bidniak, Edmonton, Alb., in Stock Eliminator; Dave Kelly, Walla Walla, Wash., in Super Gas; and Tom Manfred, Liberty Lake, Wash., in Super Street. In the division's Big Rentals Top Dragster and the RH Racecars Top Sportsman class it was Rod Andreas, Silverton, Ore., taking the win in Top Sportsman, while Wes Gravin III, Pasco, Wash., won in Top Dragster. The winners in the Harley-Davidson Racing Series presented by Harley-Davidson were Daryl Storzuk, Surrey, B.C. in Sportsman Motorcycle; William Bentz, Prescott Valley, Ariz., in Pro Fuel Harley; Clint Rabb, Lloydminster, Alb., in Pro Gas Harley; Victoria Bentz, Prescott Valley, Ariz., in Screamin' Eagle Performance Harley; Marty Smestad, Seattle, Wash., in Draggin Bagger Harley; and Dave Toth, Medicine Hat, Alb., in Hot Street Harley.

MISSION, B.C. Day two is in the books and the fields are set for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Lordco Auto Parts B.C. Nationals at Mission Raceway Park.  Qualifying was also finalized in the NHRA Harley-Davidson Racing Series, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock and the remaining classes in competition.

MISSION, B.C. NHRA Northwest Division racers converged on Mission Raceway for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Lordco Auto Parts B.C. Nationals event.  The event is the final of six events where competitors will earn points toward both national and divisional championships.

Racers in 1 different classes along with the NHRA Harley-Davidson Racing Series made qualifying and time trial runs today with eliminations in all classes scheduled for Sunday. The Top Alcohol Dragsters and Funny Cars made qualifying runs today and will continue qualifying runs on Saturday. Round 1 of eliminations will be held Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m.  The division's Big Rentals Top Dragster and the RH Racecars Top Sportsman are also in action this weekend with final qualifying passes Saturday before beginning eliminations on Sunday.

MISSION, B.C. - LORDCO Auto Parts B.C. Nationals arrives at Mission Raceway Park on Sept. 5-7. The event is one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000.  The NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series featuring the Top Fuel Harleys will run in conjunction with the event.

Gates at Mission Raceway open at 7 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials start Friday morning at 9 a.m. Comp Eliminator will qualify Friday at 1 and 4 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualify Friday at 3 p.m., and Saturday at 1 and 4 p.m.  Harley-Davidson classes (TF/PF/PG) qualify on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Eliminations start Sunday at 9 a.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will run first round at noon.

Tickets for the LORDCO B.C. Nationals at Mission Raceway Park are $15 Friday, $25 Saturday and $25 Sunday. Children 12 and under are admitted free with paid adult.

Nationals, the one of six events in Northwest Division competition where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division's RH Racecars Top Sportsman Series, Rig Rentals Top Dragster Series and Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson will run in conjunction with the event as well as the NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series. .

WHERE: Mission Raceway Park, Mission, B.C. Track is located 10 miles north of Sumas, Wash., on Highway 11.

WHEN: Friday through Sunday, Sept. 5-7

NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2014 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2015 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2015 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning division and regional teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2015 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

RH RACECARS TOP SPORTSMAN SERIES: The Northwest Division RH Racecars Top Sportsman Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Top Sportsman class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $3,500 champions' purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.

RIG RENTALS TOP DRAGSTER SERIES: The Northwest Division Top Dragster Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Northwest division's Top Dragster class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $3,500 champions' purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.

NHRA HARLEY-DAVIDSON DRAG RACING SERIES: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, classes include Top Fuel Harley, Pro Fuel, Pro Gas, Draggin' Bagger, Street Pro, Hot Street, and an Index Class. The series posts an event purse of nearly $20,000 with a total series purse of more than $200,000.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY-DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA's Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $14,000 champions' purse posted by Harley-Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.
