Sunday

EARLVILLE, Iowa. In the final results from Tri-State Raceway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Randy Meyer, Spring Hill, Kan., and Scott McVey, Winnipeg, Manit., took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.

Meyer worked his way through the field and ran 5.384 seconds at 270.75 mph in his final round victory over Jared Dreher, Clinton, Ind., who clocked in at 5.475 seconds, 262.23 mph. This was a great final round lap by both drivers and both drivers took their dragsters straight down the groove. Dreher had the starting line advantage but it was Meyer who pulled away and picked up another Wally. Meyer picked up his last win from the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minn.

McVey faced off against Dale Brand, Sully, Iowa, and posted a winning run of 5.718 seconds, 252.90 mph in his '06 Monte Carlo. Brand drove to a 5.986 second, 249.26 mph lap for his runner up finish. McVey was slow on the light but Brand was having trouble down the track with his car moving all over the track. Brand couldn't get the car under control and McVey was able to drive away to take the win. McVey also won this weekend for the rain delayed Alcohol Funny Car final round from the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minn.

Another Lucas Oil racer visiting the winner's circle twice this weekend and doubling-up was Phil Unruh, McPherson, Kan. Unruh won in Super Stock and in the Fineline Madcap Top Dragster Series. In Super Stock, he faced off against Larry Vierregger, Omaha, Neb., and posted a winning run of 8.594 seconds, 148.80 mph over Vierregger's runner-up finish of 10.574 seconds, 125.85 mph. In Top Dragster, Unruh faced off against Roland Rang, Sioux Falls, S.D., and scored a winning run of 6.427 seconds, 207.21 mph.
