Sunday

TULSA, Okla. In the final results from Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park, Shayne Lawson, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Dale Brand, Sully, Iowa, took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.

Lawson, worked his way through the field and ran 5.285 seconds at 272.61 mph in his final round victory over Chase Copeland, Gainesville, Texas, who clocked in at 5.397 seconds, 265.85 mph. Copeland had the starting line advantage out of the gate and also his quickest pass of the weekend, but Lawson quickly got around him and pulled away for the win.

Brand faced off against Annie Whitely, Grand Junction, Colo., and posted a winning run of 5.613 seconds, 255.34 mph in his '06 Monte Carlo. Whitely, who had won this event last year, drove to a 5.625 second, 255.77 mph lap for her runner up finish. Brand was off the line first and slowly pulled away and received his 3rd win of the year.

There were two racers this weekend that had wins in two different classes. Slate Cummings, Ponchatoula, La., doubled up in Super Stock and Stock Eliminator. In the Super Stock final, Cummings with a 9.045 second, 139.21 mph run defeated Lloyd Wofford, Jonesboro, Ark., who went 8.585 seconds, 162.55 mph, in his runner up finish. In the Stock Eliminator final, Cummings went off against Brenda Grubbs with a 10.486 second, 116.10 mph run over Grubbs' 10.481 second, 123.42 mph pass. With this win, Cummings won his second Wally of the day on a double-breakout.

The second driver of the day that won Wally's in two different classes was Tommy Phillips, Forney, Texas, who won in Super Comp and in Super Gas. In Super Comp, Phillips faced off against Rustin Mayse, Grandview, Texas. Phillips posted a winning run of 8.918 seconds, 170.23 mph over Mayse's final round pass of 8.925 seconds, 157.91 mph. This was a close race with Phillips and Mayse posting near identical reaction times and at the finish line the margin of victory was 0.0082 seconds, approximately 23 inches. After just winning in Super Comp, Phillips then scored another victory in Super Gas. Phillips went off again Jeff Lopez, Bedford, Texas, and posted a winning run of 9.899 seconds, 159.27 mph over Lopez's pass of 9.892 seconds, 151.90 mph. This final round run was also very close with a margin of victory for Phillips of 0.0077 seconds, approximately 21 inches, and gave him his second Wally of the day.

Other racers visiting the winner's circle this weekend were Mike Trumble, Pasadena, Texas, in Comp Eliminator; Jason Owens, White Oak, Texas, in Super Street; David Sheetz, Lake Jackson, Texas in the Sunset Racecraft Top Dragster; Kirk Piepke, Pauls Valley, Okla., in Orteq Top Sportsman; and Robert Sanders, Katy, Texas in Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley-Davidson.

South Central Division racers head to Thunder Road Raceway Park for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, September 12-14.

Saturday

TULSA, Okla. Winner swere crowned today in the Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car classes for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park, while racers in the eight other classes in competition ran final qualifying and some early rounds of eliminations.

The event is the fourth of six in the NHRA South Central Division with racers earning points toward national, regional and divisional championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $500,000. Other classes include Comp Eliminator and the division's Sunset RaceCraft Racing Engines Top Dragster and Orteq Top Sportsman that took to the track on Friday and will conclude on Sunday with final eliminations and the winner's circle celebration.

Gates open on Sunday at 8 a.m. Racing begins at 9 a.m. followed by round three of Top Dragster and Top Sportsman at 9:30 a.m. Tickets for the event are $10 each day for adults and children 10 and under are free with a paid adult. TULSA, Okla. Racing kicked off today for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park for the fourth of six in the NHRA South Central Division where drivers will earn points leading to national, regional and divisional championships

The 270 mph Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car classes highlight the event making a pair of qualifying runs today which set their fields for Saturday night featuring 3 rounds of eliminations for the alcohol classes.

The division's Sunset RaceCraft Racing Engines Top Dragster and Orteq Top Sportsman classes also made a pair of runs and will make a final qualifying pass on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. followed by rounds 1 and 2 of eliminations beginning at 5 p.m.  Super Stock, Super Gas and the rest of the classes in competition ran qualifying and time trials today, which will continue tomorrow, followed by early rounds of eliminations and final eliminations on Sunday. 

Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with final qualifying and time trials set to begin at 10:00 a.m.  Top Alcohol Dragsters and Funny Cars will run elimination rounds at 4, 7, and 9 p.m. followed by their winner's circle celebration.

TULSA, Okla. - Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park host the NHRA South Central Division on June 20-22. The event is one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000.

Gates at Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park open at 8 a.m. each day. Time trials are 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator qualify twice on Friday at 2 and 6 p.m. and once on Saturday at 2 p.m.  Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator start eliminations on Saturday at 5 and 8 p.m. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualify twice on Friday at 4 and 8 p.m. and eliminations Saturday at 4, 7 and 9 p.m.  Eliminations resume Sunday at 9 a.m. with Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator at 9:30 a.m.

Tickets for Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park are $10-20 Friday, $10-20 Saturday and $10-20 Sunday. Children 10 and under are free with paid adult.

WHAT: NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series the fourth of six events in South Central Division competition where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000. Categories include Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The division's Orteq Top Sportsman Series, Sunset Racecraft Top Dragster Series and NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson will also be run in conjunction with the event.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2014 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from Jegs High Performance. The 2014 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2014 Jegs Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning division and regional teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2014 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

oRTEQ Top Sportsman Series: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Top Sportsman class are vying for division championships. The top points finisher will earn a year-end bonus of $1,500, the runner-up will get $1000 and the third place finisher will receive $500. Top Sportsman racers may run the six South Central Division Lucas Oil events as well as three Lucas Oil Series races in the other NHRA divisions.

SUNSET RACECRAFT TOP DRAGSTER SERIES: Run in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Top Dragster class are vying for division championships. The top points finisher will earn a year-end bonus of $1,500, the runner-up will get $1000 and the third place finisher will receive $500.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY-DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA's Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $14,000 champions' purse posted by Harley-Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.
