Local favorite Larry Cummings of Hammond, La., took home the trophy in Super Stock for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at No Problem Raceway, Belle Rose, La. The win was the second for Cummings who defeated Jacob Pitt, Mansfield, Texas, using a perfect reaction time to take the early lead and hold on for the win in 8.982 seconds at 144.63 mph.

Several Louisiana racers joined Cummings in the winner's circle including Michael Mims of Iowa, La., who was better at both ends of the track to pick up the win in the Orteq Top Sportsman over Joseph Mohana, Bourg, La. Mims went 7.236 seconds at 181.20 in his '63 Corvette to Mohana's 7.204, 182.11 in his '57 Bell Air.

Pete Vicari, Harvey, La., won in the Sunset Racecraft Top Dragster class and Steve Collier, Benton, La., took home his first win ever in Super Gas. Vicari qualified No. 8 and had a single in the final after Lake Charles, La., resident Jimmy Thibodeaux broke his transmission in his semifinal victory. Collier drove his '72 Vega to a 9.907 second lap on a 9.90 index to beat out 11-time winner Clark Mundt out of Longview, Texas, and his Corvette roadster.

Kevin Self, Caddo, Okla., was better at the line and had the quicker car in Comp Eliminator posting a time of 7.868, 157.06 mph in his '32 roadster to down Scott Cashio, Ventress, La., and his '09 Cobalt at 8.434, 145.59.

It was close at the start but Hidalgo ran too quick while Hall posted a 10.364 on the 10.33 dial. Sanders, who finished third last year in the NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley-Davidson, held off Andy Millet, Denham Springs, La., to take the win and the trophy back home to Katy, Texas.       South Central Division racers head to Osage Casino Tulsa Raceway Park for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, June 20-22.
