ADEL, Ga. Tim Freeman grabbed his first NHRA divisional event win and Troy Williams Jr. doubled up winning in both the Super Street and the 10.00 Index class at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Ultimate Sportsman Weekend at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Freeman, Roan Mountain, Tenn., met up with one of the best in the county in the Comp Eliminator final round as he took out David Rampy, Piedmont, Ala., with a starting line advantage and a run of 8.707 seconds at 156.59 mph in his '98 Grand Am.

Troy Williams Jr., Bradenton, Fla., raced to the final round in both the 10.00 Index class and in Super Street. He first met up with Matt Weston, Hendersonville, N.C., winning on a double breakout then returned to the starting line to face off with Mike Griggs, Ocala, Fla., in the Super Street final. Williams, drove his '70 Nova to his 4th NHRA Lucas Oil win in 11.897 seconds.  

In probably the closest final round of the day, Joe DiPasquale, Palmyra, N.J., and Larry Roberts, Laurens, S.C., were identical off the line in the Hickory Enclosed Trailer Top Dragster class with DiPasquale taking the win by about 3 inches. DiPasquale ran 6.921 seconds at 193.74 to Roberts' 6.702, 190.30.

John Benoit, Montpelier, Vt., was perfect off the line in the Davis Golf Cart Top Sportsman with a .000-second reaction time as he held on to beat Matthew Buck, Lantana, Fla., posting a 6.831, 196.36.

Russell Linke, Old Bridge, N.J., picked up his 11th divisional event win beating Jamie Southards in Super Stock while Drew Skillman, Greenwood, Ind., downed Robbie Shaw who had the early lead but broke out. Skillman ran his '10 Ford to an 8.995, 146.72 mph pass.

In Super Gas it was Steve Furr, Harrisburg, N.C., taking his second win of the year winning last month in Orlando as he won over James Justice, Gotha, Fla., with a pass of 9.925, 162.63 and John Labbous Jr., White House, Tenn., won in Super Comp on a double breakout with George Caheely, Lafayette, Ga.

Rounding out the winners were Brendan George, Gainesville, Fla., and Danny Towe, Lawrenceville, Ga., in the 11.00 and the 12.00 Index classes. George raced his '92 Mustang to the win over Dallas Burger, Sumner, Ga., and Towe, Lawrenceville, Ga., was better at both ends of the track in his match up with Michael Smith, Ocoee, Fla.

Southeast Division Lucas Oil racers head south to Gainesville, Fla., where they will meet up with the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series at Auto Plus Raceway this weekend, March 13-16.

ADEL, Ga. - Fields were set today in all classes at South Georgia Motorsports Park for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Southeast Division Ultimate Sportsman Weekend as more than 400 racers will kick off eliminations on Sunday morning

Gates open on Sunday at 8 a.m. with racing eliminations set to begin at 9 am and continuing throughout the day culminating with the winner's circle celebration.  Classes include Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.  The division also runs three index classes in conjunction with Lucas Oil event.

ADEL, Ga. - Ultimate Sportsman Weekend III returns to South Georgia Motorsports Park on March 7-9. The event is one of seven in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Southeast division and one of 44 scheduled across the country where drivers earn points leading to divisional, regional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $519,000.

Gates at South Georgia Motorsports Park open at 8 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Qualifying and time trials for the Sportsman Shootout are at 9 a.m. on Friday with eliminations at 1:30 p.m. Qualifying and time trials for the Lucas Oil Series event begin Friday at 11 a.m. and continue on Saturday at 9 a.m. Comp Eliminator, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster will qualify Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 and 4 p.m. Event Eliminations will begin Saturday afternoon and will continue on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
: a $519,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2014 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional, regional and national champions. Regional awards include $10,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions with Divisional awards of $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $124,000 point fund from JEGS High Performance. The 2014 JEGS Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2014 JEGS Allstars. Points are based on in-division races only.

The winning division and regional teams will share $25,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, JEGS High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to JEGS Allstars participants. Any 2014 JEGS Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

Davis Golf Carts Top Sportsman Series: Run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Series, competitors in the Top Sportsman class are vying for division championships and a share in the year-end purse.

MOSER SPORTSMAN SHOOTOUT: Drivers who compete in seven NHRA sportsman classes will be eligible to participate in a new sportsman shootout program sponsored by Moser Engineering. Moser Engineering Sportsman Shootout qualifying points will be earned by competitors in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman at each Southeast Division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. The Moser Sportsman Shootout will be held at the 2014 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Silver Dollar Raceway with a posted purse of $15,000, with the winner taking home up to $5,000.
