KENT, Wash. – In the final results from Pacific Raceways and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Joey Severance took home his second trophy in as many events. The Woodburn, Ore., racer continued his dominance in the NHRA Northwest Division qualifying number one and beating James Butler, Prescott, Ariz., in the final of Top Alcohol Dragster.
Severance also won the O'Reilly Auto Parts Northwest Nationals earlier this month at Pacific Raceways and now has four wins this year in six final round appearances. His division points lead is 127 over Spencer Martin while he sits sixth in the national points standings.
Ketter Ray, Newport Beach, Calif., ran 5.70's (seconds) throughout eliminations with a 5.760, at 253.04 mph in the Top Alcohol Funny Car final to defeat division points leader Steve Gasparrelli who padded his points lead with his third final round of the year.
Jeff Lane and Al Omond continued their winning ways as they each picked up their third win this season in Comp Eliminator and in the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson. Lane, North Bend, Wash., drive his '11 Cobalt to the win in Comp over Dale Giroux, Canyon Creek, Alb., while Omond, Surrey, B.C., took out Travis Pastridge, Kennewick, Wash. Both racers lead the Northwest division points and lane is forth nationally.
A number of homestate racers made trips top the winner's circle led by Robert Matthews, Gig Harbor, Wash., with his second of the year in Top Sportsman. Matthews went 7.721 seconds at 151.83 mph in his '67 Nova to beat Mike Williams. In Stock Eliminator it was Toby Lang, Auburn, Wash., winning over Eric Waldo, Richland, Wash; Shawn Herbst, Selah, Wash., took out last year's event winner Mick Shannon, in Super Gas; and Tom Manfred, Liberty Lake, Wash., put his '81 Mustang out front of David Wakefield, Lake Tapps, Wash., in Super Street.
Rounding out the weekend winners were defending National Champion Ryan McClanahan, Alta Loma, Calif., in Super Stock; Kyle Rizzoli out of San Louis Obispo, Calif., in Super Comp; and Tom Koenen, North Bend, Ore., in the division's Top Dragster class.
Northwest Division racers head to Champion Raceway for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, Sept. 9-11.

KENT, Wash. – Racing kicked off today for the NHRA Northwest division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by Scarff Ford at Pacific Raceways with racers in eleven classes looking to battle the quarter mile this weekend. Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars highlight the event, making two qualifying runs today and running all three rounds of eliminations on Saturday along with eliminations in all classes and the winner's circle celebration. Joey Severance, Woodburn, Ore., is looking for his second win this month at Pacific Raceways scoring a win in Top Alcohol Dragster at the recent O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals while the Top Alcohol Funny Car national's runner up Brian Hough, Junction City, Ore., is hoping for one extra win light this weekend.
The division's Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, and Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson are also in competition making a final qualifying run on Saturday prior to the start of eliminations. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Saturday with racing set to begin at 9:15.

KENT, Wash. - Pacific Raceways will host the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series August 19-20, 2011. The event is the fifth of six events in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Northwest Division where drivers across the country earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the year-end purse of more than $560,000. The division's Top Sportsman Series, Top Dragster Series and the Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson will also run in conjunction with the event.
On tap for Saturday night at Pacific Raceways are all rounds of Eliminations for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car along with a special exhibition featuring Top Fuel Harleys.
Gates at Pacific Raceways open at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Qualifying and time trials begin Friday at 9:30 a.m. and continue on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. again. Eliminations for all classes except Top Alcohol will follow the conclusion of time trial and qualifying runs on Saturday. Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will have three qualifying runs on Friday, at 1:30, 4, & 6:30 p.m. and eliminations are set to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Tickets for the Pacific Raceways event are $15 Friday and $20 Saturday. All tickets include a Pit Pass. Children ages 7-15 are $5 each day. Kids 6 and under are admitted free with a paid adult.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND -- a $561,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2011 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional champions and national champions. Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street. The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.
JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $119,000 purse from Jegs High Performance. The 2012 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2012 Jegs Allstars during the O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals in July, 2012. Points are based on in-division races only.
The winning division's team will share $20,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions. Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece. Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.
Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants. Any 2012 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.
NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA's Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships. The $14,000 champions' purse posted by Harley Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.
TOP SPORTSMAN SERIES: The Northwest Division Top Sportsman Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Northwest division's Top Sportsman class to earn points toward divisional championships.
