Sunday

BOISE, Idaho  – The husband and wife team of Mick and Jackie Alley of Eagle, Idaho, celebrated in winner's circle taking home wins in both Stock and Super Stock at the Napa Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Firebird Raceway.

Mick drove his '69 Camaro to the win in Stock Eliminator and his first ever Lucas Oil divisional win with a 10.225 second pass at 123.55 mph in out running Joe Sorensen, Woodburn, Ore., in his '69 Camaro.  Jackie picked up where she left off last year taking her second win in as many years beat Tommy Gaynor in her own '69 Camaro.  Jackie went 9.633 seconds at 134.52 mph to Gaynor's 10.382, 131.06.

In the Nostalgia AA/Funny Car class and the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series that ran in conjunction with the event, it was Jason Rupert, Yorba Linda, Calif., running 5.80's and 5.90's throughout eliminations to capture the win.  Rupert went 5.907 seconds, 244.03 mph in defeating Mark Hentges, Federal Way, Wash., 6.063, 226.92.  The win moves Rupert into the series points lead with a runner up finish at the first event to go along with this weekend's win.

Rob Harrison won easily in Comp Eliminator over Alan Ellis and Mike Henderson outran Garth Giroux in Top Dragster.  Henderson, Tacoma, Wash., went 7.073 at 184.46 to Giroux, Canyon Creek, Alta., 7.410, 180.54.

In Top Sportsman it was Billings, Mont., racer Jake Neibauer ousting John Whitmore in his '63 Corvette with a pass of 7.702 seconds at 169.33.  Neibauer was not the only driver to take a '63 Corvette into winner's circle as Steve Williams, Yorba Linda, Calif., drove his K&N Filters backed Corvette to the win in Super Gas over Dairld Wurtz.

Brian Preszler, Kennewick, Wash., took the win in Super Comp beating Mike Hiatt, Fallon, Nev., in the final; Travis Ringguth, Grand Prairie, Alta., won in Super Street over Steve Reynolds, Nampa, Idaho; and Al Omond, Surry, B.C.,, ran down Don Trafford, Nampa, Idaho, for the win in Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley Davidson.

Rounding out the winners was Boise's own Rose Shaw in the Heavy class in her '78 Volare over Lucas Hull; Jon Riedel, Arlington Wash., took the Super Pro trophy in defeating Ed Cutler, Meridian, Idaho, and Paul Nicolosi, Nampa, Idaho, beat local racer Mike Hering, Boise, Idaho, in Pro.

The Northwest Division racers head north to Mission Raceway Park in Mission, B.C., Canada, for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, May 27-29.

Saturday

BOISE, Idaho – Day two is in the books and the fields are set for the Napa Auto Parts Ignitor NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Firebird Raceway.  The AA/Nitro Funny Cars made two qualifying runs along with final qualifying and time trials in other classes of competition.  Racing continues with eliminations at 9 a.m. on Sunday for the Lucas Oil Series racers and round 1 of the Nitro Funny Cars and the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series set for 1 p.m.

BOISE, Idaho – The 2011 NHRA Northwest division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Season officially kicked off today at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho, for the Napa Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford.  The event is the first of six in the division and one of 42 that will take place throughout the year from coast to coast. Upwards of 400 of the best racers from the Northwest took to the track in hopes of grabbing an early lead in the point's battle toward the divisional championships.  Reigning division Stock Champion Mark Faul won the event last year on his way to his seventh NHRA Division Championship.

Racers made initial qualifying and time trial runs in today's action which featured the highly competitive Comp Eliminator class as well as the division's Top Sportsman and Top Dragster classes.  Saturday action will include final qualifying and time trails for all classes along with two rounds of qualifying for the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series' AA/Nitro Funny Cars scheduled for 1 and 5 p.m.

BOISE, Idaho – The 41st Annual NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor presented by Dan Wiebold Ford on April 29-May 1, 2011 will take place at Firebird Raceway. The NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor is the first event of six for the NHRA Northwest Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series where drivers earn points leading to divisional and national championships as well as a chance at a share of the event purse and contingency of more than $160,000. 

Added to the Ignitor this year is the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series featuring the AA/Nitro Funny Cars presented by Stinker Stores in an 8-car field on Saturday and Sunday.  The event marks the second of five stops in the battle for the Funny Car National Championship. The pre-entry roster includes the likes of Nitro Thunder, Teacher's Pet, Mert Littlefield Tribute, and Northwest Hitter.

Gates at Firebird Raceway open at 8 a.m. each day.  Qualifying and time trials start Friday morning at 9 and continue Saturday at 9 a.m.  Comp Eliminator qualifying begins at 1 and 4 p.m. on Friday and at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday.  The AA/Nitro Funny Cars take to the track on Saturday at 1 and 5 p.m. for qualifying.  Eliminations will start Saturday afternoon for larger classes and continue Sunday at 9 a.m. for all classes.  Round 1 for Funny Car is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets for the Ignitor are $15 Friday, $20 Saturday and $20 Sunday for adults.  Kids 15 and younger are admitted free.

BONUS PROGRAMS:
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES POINTS FUND
-- a $561,000 point fund from Lucas Oil, which will be shared by 2011 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional champions and national champions.  Divisional awards include $8,500 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions; $3,000 to the champions in both Competition and Super Stock; $2,000 each to the champions in Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas and Super Street.  The seven national champions will share a bonus of $135,000.

JEGS ALLSTARS: The best of the best from each of NHRA's seven divisions will compete for a share of the $119,000 purse from Jegs High Performance.  The 2011 Jegs Allstars event will culminate a year-long points battle between drivers in each of NHRA's Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series' eight classes as well as Top Sportsman and Top Dragster.  The top points earner in each category will qualify to represent his/her division at the 2011 Jegs Allstars during the O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals in July, 2011.  Points are based on in-division races only. 

The winning division's team will share $20,000 and individual awards include $7,000 each to the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car champions, $6,000 to champions in Comp Eliminator and Super Stock, $5,000 to Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champions, and $4,500 to the Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Super Street champions.  Runners-up in all categories will earn $2,000 apiece.  Each Allstars competitor will also receive a share of a $25,000 towing fund to get to the event.

Event sponsor, Jegs High Performance, is offering a "double up" bonus to Jegs Allstars participants.  Any 2011 Jegs Allstars champion who also wins the national event will have his/her Allstars prize doubled.

NHRA SPORTSMAN MOTORCYCLE SERIES presented by HARLEY DAVIDSON: The NHRA Sportsman Motorcycle Series presented by Harley Davidson, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in NHRA's Sportsman Motorcycle class to earn points toward divisional championships.  The $14,000 champions' purse posted by Harley Davidson will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers in NHRA divisions that host Sportsman Motorcycles.

NORTHWEST DIVISION TOP SPORTSMAN SERIES: The Northwest Division Top Sportsman Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Northwest division's Top Sportsman class to earn points toward divisional championships.  The $3,500 champions' purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.

NORTHWEST DIVISION TOP DRAGSTER SERIES: The Northwest Division Top Dragster Series, run in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, is an opportunity for competitors in the Northwest division's Top Dragster class to earn points toward divisional championships.  The $3,500 champions' purse will be paid to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points finishers.
